The recent news release, with results of assays on the ongoing drilling, is important for the excellent grades and lengths of chromite and for the very nice PGM findings - worth mining in themselves - but also for the fact that Cliffs did the assays for PGM. This shows to me a very high level of interest and involvement by Cliffs in the SPQ, KWG, FWR joint venture ground.
Very definitely a boost for SPQ shareholders. With this kind of PGM findings, several mines are likely, starting with open pit over each area of high chromite grades, with associated PGMs, and making good money even in the event that the US economy tanks, and possibly chromite market prices go down - there is a whole world out there, hungry for PGMs. With chromite available in large tonnages close to surface and high grade costs will be minimal, together with PGM credits mines should be very profitable while lower grade deeper deposits elsewhere go out of business.
