Snug- when I briefly ran a geochem lab for Placer development 9000 years ago, we used to store cores in the back of the warehouse. At that time cores were not split as they had no capability to do that in the field. I seem to recall that core boxes were about 3 to 4 feet long, with about 3 lengths in each wooden box. We had to move a few dozen boxes one morning and I remember them as being quite heavy.
