The runs in the past have been pure speculation, as can be seen from the industry that SPQ is involved in - exploration. If you look at the 10 year history charts, you will see every spring that there is a big run, followed by a quick drop in price.
Last fall was the first real exception. I believe that the run in price may have been underhanded. There were a number of warrants which expired in Oct(?) 07, for $0.125. Rather than have the warrants go to waste, the stock was run up by a big buyout which saw volumes in the millions - for the first time. The stock ran, warrants were bought up and sold. Then in mid October, another private placement is announced, with warrants at $0.175. Fishy? Maybe...
