Great sleuthing, John.
I certainly have nothing against diamonds, but the whole industry is manipulated by de Beers (or most of it). And Canadian diamond producers like Aber (+10.6% in one year) and Tahera (down a ton) just are not doing that well. Moreover, I haven't seen too much in the way of the consolidation of diamond companies - therefore little takeover appreciation. So I'm not investing in diamonds.
However, it's certainly a different story for nickel, copper, and PGMs. Spider has the best claims at McFaulds, has at least ten VMS's, and has strong joint venture agreements. Eventually the number of shares will shrink (simple inverse arithmetic), and who knows... maybe someone like TECK or CVRD will come along. But they won't do that until exploration companies like Spider do what they are supposed to do, i.e., drill holes. That's why the winter drill program of 2008 will be so exciting. And in the "Great White North" that's not too far away!
We ain't seen nuthin' yet!
