Hi all
I like everyone else is crying over the poor results from the sample.but what do these results tell us,well before these results we had a couple of brown diamonds now we know that there are clear diamonds in this kimberlite and hopefully gem quality, now all we new is quantity.
lets look at some more facts Canada of all the diamond producing countries is the only one that bases their decisions on a kimberlites economic viability on small size bulk testing everyone else uses very large samples eg 5000 ton its always larger the better.WHY IS THIS because diamonds like kimberlite pipes themselfs come in clusters not evenly spread throughout the kimberlite.
This happened here in Canada ,De beers in Ontario is a classic example. when it was discovered they only did a small bulk sample which like SNOs was poor so they stopped doing anymore prospecting on the pipe. it was only when their prospecting license was going to expire that management realized that they De beers did not abandon a find without properly testing it and proceeded to do a large bulk sample. The rest is now history Victor mine will be the next diamond mine (the second for De beers) to come into production later this year in Canada.
So dont throw the baby out with the bath water its early time yet
