Snowfield's kimberlite in transit to two labs
2007-12-13 16:55 ET - News Release
Mr. Robert Paterson reports
DEBEERS PROCESSED 100 TONNES OF BULK SAMPLE
Snowfield Development Corp. has been notified by DeBeers Canada Exploration Ltd. that the first 100 tonnes of the 500-tonne bulk sample of the Mud Lake kimberlite has been processed through DeBeers's dense-media separation plant in Grande Prairie, Alta. The processing yielded 1,559.71 kilograms of concentrate, which was divided into two batches. One batch, weighing 518.8 kilograms, of concentrate has been shipped by air freight with Brink's Canada Ltd. -- Global Services to DeBeers's laboratory in Johannesburg, South Africa, for diamond recovery, with scheduled arrival next week. The second batch, comprising 1,559.71 kilograms of kimberlite concentrate, has been sent by truck to the Saskatchewan Research Council's laboratory in Saskatoon, where it will arrive this evening, Dec. 13, 2007.
Snowfield had originally intended to divide the concentrate into three batches with the third batch being sent to the Kennecott Canada Exploration's laboratory in Thunder Bay. However, the company has been informed by Kennecott that, due to scheduled maintenance, the concentrate could not be processed in time to meet Snowfield's schedule. Results, with diamond counts, are expected to be available from the Saskatchewan Research Council's laboratory by early February, 2008. DeBeers expects to have its diamond counts available by the end of March, 2008.
