I think I told you once(?) I lived in Bristol for 3 years, 71 - 74 and my office was in Federal Hill, directly above the old police station. We were there for about a year, then moved to Cranston. I ate at the Twin Oaks no less than twice a week for lunch, always on Fri's, and I returned at least once for Dinner. It was the hang out for the electrical industry.
Billy DeAngeles Sr was the owner then, and his Son Billy Jr was the main bartender in the back. I recall the greater named Joe back then...slip him a 5 spot at night for a quick table......lol.
Billy Sr stopped paying his "fire insurance", forgot the year and after I moved, so it got burned down...if you know what I mean. After it was rebuilt, Bill Jr took over and made his monthly payments...LOL.
It was my favorite spot for sure. The other place I loved was Custy's in Warwick I think? It burned down too....lol. Other than those two places, there was a seafood joint in Bristol that featured bake stuffed lobster that was fantastic.
I also loved the Italian joints in Providence!
I really enjoyed my stay in RI...beautiful state, great people. I have a cop buddy in San Diego who was from Pawtucket. He moved here in 92 I think and he still has his accent...LOL!!!
Never was at the T.O. once and did not see a group of "wise guys."
Steak with a side of pasta was the best!!!
