IMHO: When one has lost on paper 95% of their investment, it makes no sense whatsoever to recover now the 5% that is left, and leave a 0% chance to gain some, or even a lot, or even most, or even MORE than that 95% back, as long as the company has a pulse.

The company actually may in fact pull through this hit and run induced coma (even if they were jaywalking) sooner or later and, my apologies Leonard or Gene, live long and prosper.
