as a mechanical guy, these shorting numbers are mind boggling and I still do not get it even 75%.

How does it work that 95% of shares are shorted and you can answer by email if you like. Everybody talks about double counting etc etc and does the shorting number mean that 4.7 million are shorted instead of 9.5 mill. I am taking a certain cocktail so I am a little slow lately.
