Kevin Kerr has written an excellent article - "no pain, no gain." Why aren't we taking drastic measures to ease the pain for the next agonizingly painful energy crisis? Do we look forward to $5-6/ gal gasoline before we start yelling for action? We all know what happens when we get too close to the fire - it hurts. Seems like we will eventually get burnt again - perhaps sooner, rather than later. Maybe we are stupid bears for punishment.

Political talk is cheap & endless. Unless private enterprise enters the picture, nothing may get done. Congress has some 30 odd energy committees - trip over each other & accomplish next to nothing but political rhetoric. What are your thoughts re energy independance?
