the humongous short position is still there, at 4.06 million shares on the nasdaq alone. so even though the share price has almost tripled in the past two months, there is still a large position that will need to be bought back. if the shorts didn't want to cover when the stock was at 6, i'm not sure what they were hoping for, but then i suppose shorts can be just as greedy as longs. i suspect they will have to buy back those shares at higher prices, not lower.
