on this week's radio podcast, they discussed a number of topics. according to nick barisheff, the people at scotia bank couldn't understand the weakness in the gold price when they were scrambling to fill physical demand. i guess they haven't figured out the difference between real gold and paper gold.
he also discussed the etf's and how shorting them can make the metals markets even more volatile. finally, he mentioned the risk inherent in etf's in the event of a systemic collapse of the authorized participant (i.e barclays or whoever is behind that particular etf.)
importantly, investor sentiment is changing. not only do we have a bull market in metals, but now we also have a bear market in financial assets. even jeremy grantham, who hates gold, is buying gold. now jim puplava's goal is to accumulate one ton of silver - the real stuff, not the paper they trade on the comex.
