Here are a couple of quotes from former Sand Ridge (O&G company) CEO and founder Tom Ward that are from a Rigzone.com article:
“You just have to perform or you’ll be replaced,” said Ward Thursday at the Bloomberg Oil & Gas Conference in Houston. “You have to do the best job you can, but be ready to move on.” Ward advised CEOs also to have “always have their bags packed” and to have a thick skin. - See more at: http://www.rigzone.com/news/oil_gas/a/129679/Ward_CEOs_Always_Need_to_Have_Bags_Packed#sthash.Rzw2IZOl.dpuf
“When you run a public company, it’s not your baby – you work for the shareholders.” - See more at: http://www.rigzone.com/news/oil_gas/a/129679/Ward_CEOs_Always_Need_to_Have_Bags_Packed#sthash.Rzw2IZOl.dpuf
Not quite the mentality of our CEO (except maybe the thick skin part). I could have a lot more empathy for management if it appeared they in any way took ownership of, and felt more of the heartburn, from the consequences of lack of performance.
