PQ has put at least $5M of his own money into SFMI. While many (including me) have complained about his (and family's) excessive compensation, to a great extent this compensation has been in shares. PQ and family (DQ, CQ, and PT) together own over 200M shares. If you add in the board and other major investors, it's over 400M shares, almost half the total. At present, PQ's family shares are worth ~$2M, less than half of what he has put in it. Add in the board's and his friends' shares, and it's still only ~$4M. PQ can't walk away from this or let it sink, contrary to the garbage speculation on the "other board". He has to make it work if he wants to recover his own investment, much less make his fortune. We should soon see whether any sense of self-preservation trumps his stubborness, assuming it's not too late.
