Hell is finally freezing over... at least where I live. I went for a two hour walk in minus 26 C and a 30 K wind today... and I'm gettin old. It's okay if your dressed properly and keep a quick pace. The only thing that's green are the Spruce, Pine and Fir trees. Life does exist and the deer in the city are thriving.
I saw a lone Canada Goose along with three ducks, all spaced out, nestled in snow on the river. I wished I could have helped them somehow. They reminded me of gold bugs, still alive and trying to survive in the face of a perishing cold. Can they make it? Do they know how to get to the open sewage water treatment ponds a few miles away just to exist? Are some people still putting out grain for them along the river somewhere? Is that Bald Headed Eagle back this year? Why didn't they go south? Are they injured or have they just been mislead by the last few warmer winters?
So I walk and I wonder when Spring will come for the long, long winter of the gold miners and explorers... and their investors. Nature tells us it always comes. All we have to do is try to stay alive. I regret that I have been argumentative with some here. With numbers thinned there is need for support. So, stay warm, dress accordingly, watch out for that 'Eagle' and don't be mislead by hoaxes.
