I just saw a great little documentary, I think it was on Discovery, of drilling. Both in a tunnel and topside and getting the cores, analysing them and then blasting to get the ore. It happened to be a silver mine, but exactly the same process.

This is going to be fun. Wish we could have cameras following it, but, well we know what happend the last time we had cameras...
