About bashers

The latest two bashers are now gone.
But let me state that it is never my first inclination to ban someone just because they post something negative. We have a number of regular posters here, including myself, who have posted negative statements and opinions. The difference is that real investors point out negatives hoping that they will be fixed, often including suggestions for doing so. Bashers are almost uniformly negative and non-constructive in all their posts. It takes a few posts to make sure that someone is a basher, and not just a (hopefully temporarily) disgruntled shareholder, especially with a stock about which there exist some very good reasons to complain.
That said, what is to be done? There were a number of complaints on this board about the recent bashers (and some of those complaints could themselves have been considered violations out of context), but NOT ONE VIOLATION REPORT for any of their posts. In order to remove them, I had to both report the violation and process it, deciding what would be done (ignore, warn, or ban). I don't like being in that position. I feel the case is much stronger if someone else files the violation report, which can be for "Bashing or Hyping", and I act on it, than if I serve as both prosecutor and judge. Next time you feel that a basher is in our midst, don't just complain, do something. File a violation report for the post, or series of posts if it is a true basher. Then I can process it more easily and from a more objective viewpoint. As I said before, don't hesitate to report true violations, but do so only if truly justified.
