Brothers,

I am always glad to see positive articles touting SMFI. However, I am confused as to what is so positive about them using VNC. I am sure that they are using Windows, too. VNC is an open source remote access application that allows users to login remotely to their PC's from the internet (ie. Home, on trips, etc). This technology has been around for decades.

Come to think about it, I would have preferred that this information 'NOT' be put in the public domain. There are certain unsavory black hats that will now attempt to gain access through VNC. As it is open source, they know all of the back doors and how to break in. If the article was never written, then the security of ignorance would still be in place, and SFMI would be that much safer. I hope that the brothers at SFMI keep VNC patched and up to date, as well as their firewalls.

SFMI should consider getting rid of VNC just because of this article. There are dozens of other free Remote Desktop applications that they could use (LogMeIn, GotoMyPC, etc)

What could SFMI have possibly hoped to get out of letting that article be written? *sigh*

JMHO,
