As much as we would all like October 7th to be the "big day" it is likely not. And the hope that there will be workers at the new mill site on October 8th is very unlikely. The county commission will make a preliminary decision Oct. 7th. But unfortunately, they will proabably also decide on some length of time in which anyone can file an "appeal" of their decision. I'm sad to say that if this situation is like other "conditional use" applications in any county I know they will not receive permits at least until after that appeal time is up. And if there is the unfortunate development of someone actually filing an appeal it will likely mean that there will be a hearing of the appeal at the next meeting of the county commissioners. Does anyone know how often they meet? Probably only once a month in a rural county where not much is happening. The best case scenario here is that if the county commission thinks it is very unlikely that anyone will file an appeal they could set a very short (maybe a few days) appeal time after which the permits could be granted.
I don't post often, but I lurk here everyday hoping for good news. I appreciate the good spirit and the effort to provide good information by everyone on this board.
