Regarding the non-confirmation of precious metals stocks during this run-up, from Ed Steer's Daily:

"Yesterday [Friday] was settlement day for stock options. It was probably in someone's best interest that the April options in gold and silver stocks expire at a lower price. Otherwise some party would have lost big time."
