The Hinge zones are certainly economically viable but they just haven't lived up to the hype.
I agree with your assessment that a new shaft will be needed "in the future." However that will be when enough of the geology and vein locations is known to place the shaft in the right place. In the meantime the surface hinges that were discovered less than 3 years ago IMHO have changed everything. Most of the hype was due to unrealistic timelines that were constantly changing due to an evolving discovery model.
They are methodically putting in place the infrastructure and developement to mine the hinges from surface and then underground as they grow into a major mining concern. If you believe like I do that gold is only going to go higher, they are doing us a favour by mining just enough gold to fund current operations. Gold still in the ground is an assett that will IMO add to future share value.
