I guess all the shenanigans that are employed by the traders are some what justified if you have a big position to move either way. If you put in a big bid for a substantial position, all of the day traders will see your hand. Consequently we now have iceberg orders, dark pools, jitney and anonymous. Again today jitney sits on the bid and picks up whatever they can, only to offer the shares a penny higher for RJ's Iceberg order. I suppose whenever the day traders think they have it figured out, along comes anonymous or dundee to dump a few and scare everyone away. OMO, however the pattern is there.
