In a gold rush area if you don't move it will be gone. I believe Dale worked for Gold Corp before in Timmins and is probably familiar with the area. I also believe that there is some strategy in this move in that it brings a player like Rob Mcewen (if you do not know him google him) to the table and puts some pressure on Goodman.

From San Gold news release:

"Following a reevaluation of prior work, San Gold intends to actively explore these newly acquired properties with the view to developing the Davidson-Tisdale property following the negotiation of a joint venture agreement with VG Gold Corp.

It will be in SAN'S future that they will have to do some offering but now will have a joint venture partner to talk to like Mcewen that they can negotiate with also. I think this makes for a very interesting future and gives SAN some negotiating leverage for better share price when doing future offerings.

I will speculate that to get a joint venture agreement with VG that Rob Mcewen may become a board member of SAN (remember only my speculation) this would also be a major plus when joining the TSX.
