But, IMHO, if your advisors two elections ago would have stepped out of their limos and checked the "price at the pumps" they would have dropped the tax on gas (instead of 2 cents off the GST) and brought home a huge majority, instead of the "lameduck" minority Canadians are saddled with! (I would have even voted for that!)

Opportunity knocked. Nobody answered. Consequence; minority governments.

Reminds me of Joe, another tory genius, who after his minoriy fell in '79, during the campaign that followed, announced as one of his platform planks: an 18 cent a gallon tax on fuel! I was filling my tank when I heard that announced so you can guess where my vote didn't go!

PS: If Harper is forced to make the visit to Ms. John, our Gov Gen, on his heels will be the coalition leader (NDP, Lib, PQ) offering their hand in forming govt! She will have no choice but to procede!(If the opposition choose, they can "scuttle" this minority at any time the "rules" allow.)
