200 tpd mill

posted on Nov 26, 2007 01:33PM

Just saw an article,, and although it's about a silver mine,,,Great Panther processed the folowing from it's Topia 200 tpd mill:

"Great Panther refurbished the mill during the second half of 2005, and recommissioned the mill in December 2005. The mill is operating at approximately 200 tonnes per day, (Aug 2007). Silver equivalent production in the second quarter of 2007 was 133,522 oz."

Now this is possible because they are averaging high grade(13 opt) but it shows what is possible with a 200 tpd mill,,,and that's just one quarter of production.

In all honesty,,,you don't want a mill that will produce more than your known resources. The 200 tpd mill will be just fine for 1 years production and our 43-101 resource estimate. You don't want to be mining waste ore. That costs money. You would want to process the ore containing only the gold which can be processed. If you run 1500 tons of sand through a 1500tpd mill,,,you still only have sand.

Our ore should run at least .35 ounce per ton. Management has been working this mine plan for years. After 1 or 2 years production, financing will be very favorable. And we should have increased our known resources through exploration. But for now, we know we have about 35,000 ounces of gold at .48 ounce per ton.

"Historical resources were estimated by J. C. Fagan and associates on March 1, 1999 covering the Power and Contact zones for total resources of 70,545 tons grading 0.48 oz. of gold per ton. This estimate is not in compliance with NI 43-101."

The above resouce is about a 350 day supply of ore for a 200 tpd mill,,,roughly 1 years supply of ore. This is a standard way to run a proffitable mine. You don't want to waste years drilling, building a resource that you now can't afford to mine. Drill 1 years worth of gold,,,,produce and continue to define more resources as you make money.

"The mill currently has a capacity of 200 tons-per-day, but has been designed for expansion to 500 TPD. It has been upgraded and readied to process bulk gold and molybdenum samples from Roxmark’s Nortoba-Tyson properties and could also process samples from the  Sand River/Leitch and East Leitch properties, if and when extracted in the future.

Historically, the Northern Empire property produced 149,053 ounces of gold from 425,866 tons with a recovery of 0.35 oz. in gold per ton. It is serviced with a shaft to 2,460 feet with development above and below a major flat diabase sill. The mine was inactive since 1988. "
