Romarco appoints Arnold chief operating officer

Sparks, NV - May 13, 2009 - ROMARCO MINERALS INC. (TSXV: R) (the “Company”) is pleased to announce that it has appointed Mr. James R. Arnold, P.E. as Sr. VP, Chief Operating Officer of the Company. In addition, Mr. Arnold has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Romarco.

Mr. Arnold has a long and distinguished career of over 30 years in the mining industry working in all phases of surface and underground mine operations. Among his many accomplishments, Mr. Arnold was involved in the building and management of one of the lowest cost gold operations at Gold Field’s Chimney Creek Mine, managed one of the lowest cost underground mines at Henderson Mine, helped write and implement many of the environmental laws used in the US today, led a mining consulting firm as President and CEO of Knight Piesold and Co. which provided technical services to the mining industry, and held the position of President of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (SME) and Chairman of the Nevada Mining Association.

Mr. Arnold was recently Vice President, Colorado Operations for Freeport McMoRan where he led the Climax re-start project through feasibility, engineering, staffing and construction. Prior thereto he was V.P. Technical Services for Coeur d’Alene Mines Corp., and also held the position of General Manager for Kinross’ Goldbanks Project and Manager of Santa Fe Pacific Gold’s Twin Creeks project in Nevada.

Jim will be based locally in South Carolina leading the team in the continued resource expansion, assessing district exploration potential and developing and executing a mine plan for Haile. This will be the first appointment in assembling an experienced team of mining professionals at the Haile site to continuing delivering exceptional value for our shareholders.”

Mr. Arnold holds a degree in Metallurgical Engineering from University of Idaho and an M.S. degree in Engineering Management.

The Company wishes to acknowledge and thank Mr. Ken Brunk, for his leadership in guiding the completion of the feasibility study on the Haile Gold Mine. Mr. Brunk will remain a technical consultant to the Company.

Mr. Arnold has been granted 500,000 stock options at C$0.56 in connection with this appointment.
