Vancouver-based Rockwell Diamonds Inc. has implemented changes to its Board of Directors following a recent Board review of the company's operations that was inspired by current market volatility. The changes are in accordance with Rockwell's black economic empowerment partner and its largest shareholder Pala Investments.
The following changes are:
-
Pat Bartlett, Rene G. Carrier, Scott Cousens and Douglas Silver have resigned from the Board.
-
Sandile Zungu, Terry Janes, Bill Fisher and Greg Radke are all joining the Board as Independent Directors. Zungu, a mechanical engineer, is a founding member of Zungu Investments Company (Propriety) Limited, a diversified investment company and majority shareholder of Rockwell's empowerment partner Africa Vanguard Resources (AVR); Janes, a geological engineer, was involved in the establishment of Canada's Ekati diamond mine and managed BHP Billiton's diamond marketing operations in Antwerp; Fisher, a geologist, has alluvial diamond mining experience in Africa and Brazil and experience in the management of Canadian publicly listed companies; and Radke, a lawyer, has 15 years experience in international finance.
-
David Copeland, Dr. Mark Bristow and Dr. John Bristow will all continue to serve as Directors.
"These changes create a strong balance of independence, as well as operational, diamond market, and corporate experience, on the Board, which will benefit the company in the currently harsh global financial environment," says John Bristow, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rockwell. He also welcomes the representation from Rockwell's empowerment partner to the Board and looks forward to the company "strengthening its South African footprint with the assistance of AVR."
