cs99 - Don had no medical/science experience prior to starting the JCP that acquired RVX. Dr Wong came up with the idea and Don and a Mr. Mau came up with the way to finance that idea. Keeping this thing alive after the number of stumbles they have had is truly an amazing feat all on its own.
I got involved in this story right around the time that PFE's Torceptipib failed. Epigenetics was like a foreign language at the time and the MOA was not quite known either. For a brand-new leg of science these guys have done a pretty good job developing it.
I believe at this time they are fully aware of their shortcomings and are taking the steps necessary to drive the commercial side of this business forward the way it should have been done a number of years ago. Don as much as said so in his comments at last years AGM, saying something like "it's now time for Big Pharma to take it from here" “we have taken it as far as we can go”. There were some good synergies found in BoM that were immediately recognized when the data from BoM came out. A new patent was filed within a couple of weeks of the data coming out which was about a year ago now. It would not surprise me that they are awaiting word from the patent office before announcing this partnership deal that DM has been talking about. It takes about a year to get word from the patent office that you have your patent or not. Having this potential partner wait for conformation of that patent before committing to spend a quarter of a billion dollars to further this science makes total sense to me. Someone looking in on this company 1 to 2 years down the road will not understand what all the whining that is going on today was all about. It would not surprise me if big change for this company is afoot right now.
The sad part really is that many of the retailers that stayed with this story for so long will blow out their positions just before this corporate change is fully developed.
I mentioned IMMU in an earlier post today, if anyone had read a little history, they would see that the president changed just a few months prior to this deal being announced. I don't have any idea how dramatic it will be for RVX but I've got the popcorn box in hand and am sitting on the edge of my seat now waiting to see how this all unfolds.
All IMO, dyodd.
