BKC ... interesting comparison and thoughts ... for valuation and negotiating, it would be good to have several BP judges/juries for the civil case example, for picking the best and most alluring verdict.
In a "dire" situation, ... and not saying that is the case necessarily with RVX at present (we don't know the totality of public/private RVX discussions/options), ... the thing that keeps business predators at bay is competition and multiple options, along with the luxury of time.
My "hope" would be that there are an ample number of BP competitors encouraged "enough" by the data, to drive an acquisition bid above (and hopefully well above) current market and book value ... if/when it gets to "crunch time" ... enough capital to at least get thru break-through applications would be really nice for negotiation and valuation if anything positive comes of those applications. I would think high profile and highly experienced BP's would have a good read on the likelihood of those filings as well though, today. But if "iffy" turns into "yes" for any of the unmet needs, then we could be back to talking about holding out for better deals rather than capitulating to whatever can be had instead of "ceasing operations" as a potential reality? ... in my view
