BETonRVX - Welcome to the RVX hub we look forward to reading your comments.

After taking a look at pitavistatin I noticed it received FDA approval in 2009, 2 years after the design of the intitial Phase I trial. As far as I can remember all trials were designed using the most perscribed standard of care statins in combination with RVX-208 so as to capture the largest possible market share if the compound ever got approved. Since each successive trial used Crestor and Lipitor the FDA required the consistancy of both of those statins unless another Phase II trial was done which would have set the program back by up to 3 years. I don't know what % of market share pitavistatin has today or what it had in the years following its approval in 2009 but I would guess that it was less than what Crestor and Lipitor had. I also suspect that if RVX wanted to include pitavistatin in this BET on MACE trial they would have had to start from scratch with a P1 and P2 trial setting their program back even furthure.

As BDAZ says there will be many follow-up studies for a megablockbuster drug...assuming we get there of course.

All IMO, dyodd.
