CDude, if you hold warrants with a $4 strike the maximum possible loss on the short position is $4 minus the cost basis of the short. 

It makes sense if you are holding a bunch of warrants and would like to take some risk off. The broker warrants are not tradeable as far as I know so this would be the only way to some off the table.
