Topcoin thank you for bringing the High-Density Lipoprotein Subspecies in Health and Human Disease: Focus on Type 2 Diabetes to our attention.

BDAZ thank you for the direct link to that article.

Page 8 of the article pretty much answered the question of why all of the CETP programs came up empty. By the way that is something Dr Wong said would happen years ago in one of the small group discussions after an AGM. I don't think I will ever forget the morning that the Merck representative through water on our parade when the ASSERT results came out, saying that we only had a 12% increase in HDL and RVX-208 increased ALTS, emphasizing "I would never take that" while they had a 128% increase in HDL with their drug and no mention at all of any adverse effects.

Threading a couple of sentences together from page 8 of the article: "VLDL catabolism-derived HDL particles became enriched in TG at the expense of cholesterol ester(CE) via the action of CETP. This has the net effect of driving plasma  HDL-C lower. This hinders the formation of large HDL in favor of smaller  CE-poor HDL".

DM has been on about the size of HDL particles that apabetalone has been promoting the growth of for years. Page 8 of this article puts that all into perspective for a non-scientific mind like mine. HDL subspecies seems to have a very big role in CVD and many other chronic diseases. The multimodal effect of ABL may end up being tested in T2D patients without CVD just because of this multimodal effect. That could have a dramatic effect on the size of our potential market in the future.

One thing that continually goes through my mind is that RVX-208 or Apabetalone was developed years ahead of its time. Advancements in testing equipment and processes such as Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy for determining lipoprotein subclass particle size and concentration  are critical in the development of new and better therapies.

If being lucky is the collision of opportunity and preparedness I believe it is now time for Resverlogix to shine.

Do you feel lucky?

tada
