You aren't the first to ask me to explain statistical significance in clinical trials. However, I know my limits; statistics has never been my strength. I would embarass myself as well as the field of statistics if I tried to explain statistics. I am not qualified to make too much statistical comment on BETonMACE, nor do I have enough details about the statistical analysis plan for BETonMACE. There is likely a pre-specified statistical analysis plan for BETonMACE, and likely many variables that influence what the statistical significance threshold for BETonMACE is. I have been hoping for a BETonMACE trial design, rationale and baseline data paper to be published any day now in hopes that more detailed trial information and statistical analysis plan would be revealed. I'm not sure if Resverlogix is planning to publish something like that,but it is common with many cardiovascular outcomes trials.
