Cholesterol and reduction in MACE is presented as something of a "by product" of this cascading downregulation. Its heavy duty science and beyond my level of understanding, but I get it just enough to see potential that is beyond blockbuster.
I don't know that lowering bad cholesterol and increasing good, which I believe it the thrust of the term 'reverse cholesterol transport'....I don't believe it gets as much attention as it used to...I think it was back in the 80s that cholesterol started to be a big topic of conversation in the medical world, but the narrative kept changing.
I saw this brutally funny video that illustrates how little we know:
