Message: The good, the bad and the ugly, part 2

I was quite critical this morning in my response to Narmac regarding the good, the bad and the ugly ramifications of Resverlogix potentially being unblinded in BETonMACE (note: unproven....just a hypothetical since they choose to not answer the question anymore).

A private convo with Kelsee got me thinking today. Perhaps a scenario exists in which the independent DSMB and/or independent statistical team performed a recent analysis (i.e. interim SSRA) that unavoidably resulting in some unblinding occuring.

If I stated the below out of context, then you would all rightfully call me a crazy kool-aid drinking fool. But keep in mind I have been quite critical as of late, so this is just bringing balance to the force. LOL.

Caution: Upcoming hypothetical, unproven scenario.

Even though Resverlogix has stated that they won't stop the trial early for overwhelming benefit, perhaps the DSMB has recommended that this happen as a result of a recent analysis (i.e. interim SSRA). In the process of the DSMB communicating this to the clinical steering committee and Resverlogix, perhaps there was an unavoidable unblinding or partial unblinding. Therefore, Resverlogix may not have asked to be unblinded in this hypothetical scenario, but it unavoidably happened. Perhaps Resverlogix cannot communicate this right now because of their desire to keep all others involved blinded, protect the integrity of the trial, and allow the trial to go to completeness w/o disclosing this info.
