I am not surprised at all that your cardiologist/lipid specialist docs have not heard of apabetalone. I would not expect most practicing docs, even if they are cardio/lipid specialists, to be familiar with a drug that has yet to pass Phase 3 and be approved by FDA. If it's not something they can prescribe and not something being marketed/advertised, then I don't think it would be on their radar.

Docs that are heavy into clinical trial design and clinical steering committees and doing consulting gigs for cardio companies, especially those in the HDL or cardiovascular outcomes fields......I'm sure most are familiar with apabetalone. But it doesn't surprise me one bit that a practicing cardio/lipid doc has never heard of apabetalone. Ask your docs if he/she has ever heard of bempedoic acid? Even that incredibly successful/promising Phase 3 stage drug for LDL lowering from Esperion (anticipated NDA application Q1 2019) probably is not familar to most practicing docs. For the same reasons.....needs to prove itself in Phase 3, be FDA approved and get the marketing/advertisement.

In my opinion, successful Phase 3 trials leading up to NDA application will be the golden ticket. For example, top line data reveal of BETonMACE will come first and make a huge media impact if it does what we think it will do. Next, when Kausik Ray and/or others on the BETonMACE Clinical Steering present the full BETonMACE trial data at a major cardio conference like AHA or ESC, presumably at one of the highly advertised/anticipated clinical trial data reveal oral presentations, then apabetalone will be on the cardio docs radar. Around this same time, the BETonMACE trial results could be published in a journal like New England Journal of Medicine.......docs will read that and notice. And the main stream media will be all over this too. But we need the golden ticket of stellar Phase 3 BETonMACE results first! All just my opinion.
