Message: Questions about the Medison licensing agreement....

Just some thoughts and questions that have been rattling around in my head since the news came out.

Okay...Resverlogix has a licensing deal in Israel and the Palestinian Authority, check.  This is the second licensing deal, the first being with Hepalink for China and "the territories".  Or maybe make this the 2nd and a half licensing deal, since Hepa USA signed a ROFR agreement for the United States.

But when Hepalink signed on for that licensing deal in China they ponied up $35 million in the form of an equity purchase, priced at $2.67 which was above market at the time.  And HL USA paid $8 million for the ROFR for the American licensing rights with $0 equity investment.

Okay...so it seems to me that Medison has these rights now, but in a way its risk free.  If, for whatever reason, Apabetalone isn't approved....then Medison isn't out anything.  Hepalink on the other hand, they'd coceivably be out the $35 million they paid for Chinese rights, and the $8 million they paid for the ROFR on the American rights.....less whatever they might be able to sell their shares at.

So the obvious question in my mind from Resverlogix's perspective.....Why even bother with this "deal"????

As noted previously, there doesn't seem to be one thin dime coming Resverlogix's way....So why not wait?  If Apabetalone is approved, then let the bidding start, that makes more sense to me.

The only thing that makes a little bit of sense imo is what DM said about the deal, how it provides "important validation" for Apabetalone.  This isn't China we're talking about, Israeli and Palestinian populations combined are only around 12 to 13 million.

But I still don't understand it....how hard can it be to sign a licensing deal for a drug that isn't even approved yet?  If the company was flush with cash, with sufficient resources to finance the completion of BETonMACE BETonCKD, Fabry's....and more, then no worries.  But that's not the case.

Anyway those are some thoughts/questions....I'm still scratching my head on this one.
