narmac, as we all know this is a period of great uncertainty but many of the big factors will be known in the next few weeks...perhaps not FA and that IMO is potentially a game changer one way or the other in terms of deal Don may have up his sleeve and in terms of who the players will be.
Regarding the FA we know that the results after 26 weeks re 5 point MACE were quite striking in terms of both absolute and relative risk reduction. However, based on the combined trials we know very little about 3 point MACE because, based on my recall, the number of events was very small and did not provide very much information that could be judged in terms of statistical reliability. Please correct me if I am wrong.
So one of the things that is concerning to me is what will happen if we get really great scientific news. My concern, and it is quite premature (and immature :) ), is will retail shareholders get thrown in front of the bus by the big boys or treated fairly?
In spite of my criticisms of Don I have no reason to believe he is not honest even though he is overly optimistic in terms of setting up expectations.
The other hope I have comes from masila's wonderful notes from the Zenith Jan 7th.2016 AGM and it is Don talking about the new corporate structure.
(Slide on corporate structure – a simplification of what they want it to look like at the end of the day … Three circles representing Resverlogix and ZEL at the top and ZCC lower down and in between the two of them – kind of a V shape). Resverlogix holds RVX-208 and about 2500 other compounds. ZEL will hold ZEN-3694 and 1500 other compounds. ZCC will hold the royalties, eventually, that come from these two companies, after the reorg is done. That’ll take a bit of time, but the net objective is to split the assets in such a way that does not create a huge tax bill for shareholders and that it gets done the right way.
Having this structure will allow us to sell off or IPO Zenith or sell off Resverlogix and still benefit from our hard work over the last 15 years developing this rather exciting epigenetic mechanism.
I remember how positive and excited I was back then because it suggested to me that Don was working for the interests of employees and investors, so I felt reassured.
Who knows. It is almost 2 years after that presentation but I sure hope Don still has that attitude.
