Trodusquemine is an experimetal drug candidate that had been studied for a variety of medical conditions. Trodusquemine is an aminosterol that was originally isolated from the spiny dogfish (Squalus acanthias).[1] It has a chemical structure similar to squalamine.
It has undergone clinical study for the treatment of diabetes mellitus, HIV infection, obesity, and Type 2 diabetes; however, drug development for these indications has been discontinued.[2] It is currently in Phase I clinical trials for metastatic breast cancer.
