Clayton's statement to me in September was "The DSMB and the clinical steering committee are in discussions as to the most appropriate timing for the futility analysis, ranging anywhere from 50% to 75% of the events. When a final decision is made it will be announced. The discussions are based solely on statistical analysis factors and not on clinical results."
All that was confirmed is that discussions are based on statistical analysis. Just to be clear, Clayton's statement cannot be used to put a positive spin on the efficacy of the clinical results. In other words, one cannot infer anything about the efficacy of clinical results from these discussions.
