SF, one further off point re the Chinese.

Recently our Liberal gov't allowed the sale of a key software company that provides services to the Canadian military and intellegence agencies to a gov't funded Chinese company! How naive (and stupid) can we be.

Anyway, my apologies to readers and other posters because I am way off topic.

When Hepalink first bought into RVX the first thing that came to mind was theft of intellectual property i.e. they would study the compound, perhaps alter it and refine it and apply for their own patent.

But this brings up the topic of scaffolds. These compounds (rvx208 etc) are built off of (I believe) patented scaffolds. If the Chinese or any independent company or researcher does not have the scaffold can they build the RVX portfolio of compounds? Patents must be published. Does that not mean they can be copied if someone wants to take the chance?

If not then RVX is somewhat protected.

Hopefully the patent people and science people can chime in here.

I'm headed to the dock for a beer. Unfortunately cool westerlies have made the dock unpleasant this year. I'm sure that is not the case in San Fran.

Sure hope Don is not going to be relaxing this Labour Day weekend. He has a big job to do.
