Golfyeti,
"To understand the origin of the high residual cardiovascular risk in patients with diabetes and kidney disease"
"Residual" cardiovascular risk: Even though patients with diabetes and kidney disease can be treated with drugs to manage their medical complications (including but not limited to medications for glucose control, insulin sensitivity, high-blood pressure, high LDL-cholesterol, elevated serum triglycerides, and other standard of care treatments for diabetes, dyslipidemia and kidney disease), the risk for cardiovascular disease is still significantly greater in these patients than in those without diabetes and kidney disease. Therefore, these patients have "residual" cardiovascular risk that it unable to be lowered by current standard of care therapies.
