Question for BDAZ: Why did the placebo group on slide 23 from the Cowen Health Care Conference have a dramatic increase in the number of events in the 30 days (from 180 days to 210 days) after the last dose of study medication? In the DM group the event rate went from 12%ish to 21%ish and in the hsCRP group it went from 12%ish to 20%ish. I have looked at this slide a number of times in the past and never thought to ask this question before. If this trend was consistent in our current trial then we could easily see a shortened time horizon to the futility study results.
I could understand this in the dosed category but from my simple mind I’m having a hard time understanding why this happened in the placebo category. It’s almost as if they gave this group a couple of big parties and served cheeseburgers and pork ribs just to induce an MI.
