JK,
Most, but not all, peer-reviewed journal articles are based on data that has been presented at prior scientific meeting(s). However, unless one was at the meeting to see the presentation or obtained a copy of the poster (if poster presentation), then one is likely limited to only seeing the presentation abstract prior to the full peer reviewed publication. Peer review gives the study added credibility, and publication allows for all of the data, methods, intro, discussion, references, etc. to be presented. More importantly, with most articles being available online it reaches a much larger audience. FYI....according to the publication history, it was first available online March 8, 2016.....it just didn't come up on my PubMed search until this week likely because the article was slated or the June 2016 issue.
