Hi led.

Well I am the guy who complains about Don's pay cheque, obviously.

So I did not want to reply but I do feel the need to put it in perspective from my POV.

I read Jkj's responses and that gives an excellent perspective.

So here are my thoughts;

  1. The fact that Dr Copper of Ziopharm is paid $12,000,000 does not in any way justify Don's $850,000 nor does it put it in perspective. Who knows how he convinced his board of this level of compensation? The board may be stacked just like RVX.
  2. Ziopharm is trading at roughly $7.50 USD.
  3. It is up from $6.50 in 2011 but down from higher levels.
  4. The company actualy generated revenue of $272,000 (peanuts but > zero) however they had a loss of $14.2 million (small), but RVX is always in a loss position(and that is to be expected).
  5. It is listed on the NASDAQ.
  6. I wonder if Dr Cooper communicates to his shareholders? Probably.

When RVX moves up to $7.50 Cdn I won't complain about Don's pay. However, Don has made it quite clear that he does not care about shareholders.

In fact I feel Don is quite irrelevant at this stage although he is playing out his chess game...2 new people on the board, working on the next regional deal (which will bring huge credibility to RVX, probably working on other financing options, etc). And Don has surrounded himself with a great team of scientists, business development expertise and now investor relations...so that IMHO is leadership.

Where Don is relevant is that he is a drag on the perceived value of this company at this stage (remember I have given credit to Don many times for keeping this company alive for 15 years but he does not seem to have the ability to tap what should be it's current value).

At the end of the day this is a science company, apabetalone is unique and it generated a 55% RRR in MACE. No other drug has done that!

The science will drive this company. Any hints of success on prostate cancer with zen3694 will drive up the credibility and belief in the science that Dr Wong started into 15 years ago(and 8 years ago started the epigenetic focus on the advice of either Crick or Watson of double helix fame).

As I've posted before the failure of CEPT inhibitors will cause BP to look at RVX. I think the only issue there is the price that Don will require and it will be very high because both Eastern and NGN are expecting a very large payback.

Anyway, just my rambling perspectives.

So a final thought is that if Don was paid $150,000 and many more stock options he may have a lot more hustle and when he presents it would be much buttoned down on the business side so that potential investors would have some confidence in the commitments. Currently Don does not have to care. He just needs to show up from time to time and throw out a mediocre presentation.

So if we think outside the box...what if Don was replaced by a different CEO?

Finally (I must have some sort of rambling disease) perhaps it is extremely good to have this tiny little invisible biotech in Alberta with so much science because there has been nothing but positive findings in the science and so it probably will explode (or die if the futility results are -ve) but I happen to believe in the post hoc findings and they continue to reveal new MOA insights.

Cheers
