A jump would be awesome CJ, and I was hoping for one too....still am a bit....T minus just less than 2 hours.
I used to operate under the assumption that there are always players who know the skinny before the unwashed masses....its just human nature. Someone mentions to a close friend that there's gonna be a big annoucement or something, then the stock starts moving ahead of time and we the sheep scratch our heads and say ''what's up''.
But then I saw one of my retirement home stocks, Amica Mature Lifestyles get bought out by the Ontarion Teachers Pension Fund at a massive premium, but there was nothing in the trading (looking back at it after the fact) that suggested a buyout at a huge premium (about 100%). Obviously the Teachers fund had to have a good number of people knowing the buyout was coming, as well as others with Amica....but there was no big price or volume jump before the deal was announced.
I still look for moves that might signal something is coming...but I no longer consider it a sure thing that the trading will provide a tip off about a deal or a big announcement.
