Did they receive a new patent and not disclose it to the markets? I may be wrong...but to me this represents a material event which mandates that disclosure is required. A patent is something that has tangible value...one can argue over how much, $100, $1,000, $100,000 or $1 million....but the amount is not relevant. What is relevant is that it is (imo) a material event and warrants disclosure.
