I don't think FDA approval means diddly squat in terms of RVX needing their sanction...if they prove the science with the European equivilants then the FDA will eventually come on board.

But I do think an annoucement of FDA approval of the phase III trial currently under way...I think it would give the share price a shot in the arm, that seems a fitting metaphor for biotech. Its the old perception versus reality argument....I don't think FDA approval does anything for the reality, but the market is concerned with perception. And for good or bad, an FDA stamp of approval does carry a lot of weight.
