Led,
In my opinion, and consistent with SUSTAIN and ASSURE trials, there will only be one control group, which will be taking statin (atorvastatin or rosuvastatin) alone. Most likely they will receive the "sugar pill" as a mock RVX208 treatment so as to maintain the blinded study.
I'm sure we'll get updates regarding enrollment and dosing milestones, but for MACE count updates I doubt we'll hear anything with quarterly regularity. I think twice a year is more reasonable, since the post hoc analysis of the ASSURE and SUSTAIN was based on 6 months. Until we see the final trial design, we won't know for sure about realistic update timeliness.
RVX has communicated that BETonMACE has been initiated, which may or may not mean that enrollment is underway (it is already Fall by some definitions). They have also communicated that the full study design will be disclosed when dosing begins. So there may or may not be a lot going on behind the scenes getting ready for the big trial "launch". Perhaps they have a head start on enrollment already, we don't know. Let's hope that the Rodman and Renshaw webcast on Thursday 9/10/15 sheds some light on these questions.
