SF, I find it distressing to hear that you know of people who've lost their homes because of poor investment decisions. Back in 2011 I lost a friend....and while I don't know the reasons why imperically, I know he played the market heavily and I strongly suspect his decision was largely financial, he was younger than me (about 40) with two young children.

In financial planning circles there's an age based rule of thumb that says exposure to equities should be limited to your age minus 100. Using this rule a 20 year old would have 80% exposure to stocks, a 30 year old 70% and a 70 year old just 30%. And of course no professional would ever reccomend exposing oneself to such a degree in one single stock....diversification across industries, regions and sectors is the way to go.

I've picked up some shares of PPHM, drawn to look at it by Eastern's (Dart's) involvement, and ultimately buying in for the same reasons I was attracted to RVX back in Jan of 2014, because of the chart. Its even further down the road than RVX with a phase III trial on track to be enrolled by the end of this year for a cancer therapy. It has a revenue producing asset, ia contract manufacturing site with a growing backlog which has them building a new and bigger facility. AND they're listed on the NASDAQ.

Now with all that going for them....are they worth 1 Billion? 2 Billion? Nope, their market cap is higher than RVX's (as it seems they should be) but not by much....about 250 million USD.

I'm not happy about DM committing to announcing an Orphan Indication and then (for whatever reason) not following through. But maybe he got some advice to sit on it so that it will make a bigger splash when the news does come out? Only time will tell.

In december our shares were worth just 25% of what they are now....that was just 6+ months ago. I know I haven't been here as long as some...but I do think anyone either moving to or staying on the sidelines (assuming they're watching) I think there's a good chance in another 6+ months they'll regret not having bought/held during this quiet summer period.
